Welcome to Summit Art Studio, where we are reaching new heights in artistry! My name is Bodie Smith and I will be the instructor at Summit Art Studio! The studio is a place where art comes to life, I am excited to share my passion for art with others because it has brought me so much joy and fulfillment in my life. Here, we offer art classes for adults and kids that cater to artists of all levels. Whether you're a beginner looking to explore your artistic side or an experienced artist aiming to refine your skills, we have something for everyone. We will also later this year be offering specialized courses like printmaking and pottery.

After many years of practice I have come to know that art takes effort. Learning to draw or paint is skill that anyone can learn as long as you have the determination to do it. I know that art is hard work much like climbing to the summit of a mountain but the result is worth it. Seeing the view from the top of a mountain and feeling a sense of accomplishment from doing something difficult is an important part of our experience as human beings. About me: I have a bachelor’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in art. One of my passions in life is fine arts, and led me to getting a degree in art. I pretty much have loved art since I was old enough to pick up a crayon and colour. I love painting, sketching, printmaking and many other art forms. Luckily for me I have wonderful parents who encouraged me to pursue my talents and interests and found me an art tutor when I was nine years old. I studied with my art teacher for many years until she retired just a few years ago. The skills I have learned from my art teacher as well as in university has naturally lead me to combine it with one of my other interests which is long boarding. For the last 7 years I have owned a business called Northern Board Co. where I have custom painted hundreds of long boards and skateboards and sold merchandise (t-shirts, hoodies etc.) that I have screen-printed myself. I have been able to successfully market myself as an artist. This was made possible through my long boards as well as lots of other commission work and volunteer work painting sets for many of the plays and productions in my hometown. 

 

I have many other interests, I am a foodie I love talking about food, making it, and most of all eating it. I also am a music lover…. I listen to all kinds of music and I love playing music on my guitar, I love music enough that my wife and I named our sons Zeppelin and Hendrix(yes after Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix).I also spend a lot of time with my family going on adventures and learning about the world whether that be travelling to other countries, camping, hiking, and fishing…. I only wish we could do it more. 

 

All of my interests and hobbies could not compare to my family, they are the most important part of my life. I have been married for the best eight years of my life to my best friend Becca and we now have two beautiful sons(Zeppelin & Hendrix)who we both love very much.
